Danny O'Connor is a professional actor/playwright who until July of 2007 was thrilled to be living and working in Chicago where he had lived since his graduation from college in 2003. He has acted in productions at Cornservatory, Donny’s Skybox in Second City, Gorilla Tango Theatre, and the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre among others. While he still loves Chicago and intends to move back there eventually, he has recently moved back to the DFW area to concentrate on making "Zero" into the success we all feel it has the potential to receive.
He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Degree in Acting from the highly acclaimed acting program at Emerson College in Boston. He was very active throughout his Emerson tenure and had prominent roles in numerous plays while in Boston. The Emerson program afforded Danny the opportunity to stretch his wings as well as hone his craft under a renowned faculty and a host of visiting theater titans. He also fell in love with that historic city (and of course the Red Sox!), but decided to move to Chicago because of its vibrant theatre scene and the opportunities there for the serious actor.
Danny also received outstanding acting training while he attended Newman Smith High School in Carrollton, Texas, where he graduated in 1999. During and previous to his years there, Newman Smith had been known around the state for its extraordinary Theatre program under the direction of Eric Porter. Danny is extremely grateful to Mr. Porter for his tutelage and belief in Danny's abilities, as well as his support and patience. While at Newman Smith, he and his fellow classmates/actors garnered numerous awards in the years that they participated in various competitions around the state, and he credits these competitions as being a pivotal facet of his acting training overall.
Previous to high school, Danny was also very active in plays and musicals throughout the Dallas Metroplex. Most often he was involved at Plano Children's Theatre and is very grateful to Sara Akers and her wonderful directors who worked with him on a variety of productions in his teen and pre-teen years.
All performances of Zero from now on will be dedicated to the memory of Danny's brother, best friend, and collaborator on Zero and their previous play Random Cat Syndrome, Robert O'Connor who died unexpectedly in late 2006. He is missed and thought of every day by all of us.
Danny is also extremely grateful to his family and friends who have been supportive of his acting career for all of these years, especially to the Octaviar Producers and Investors and to each of those who are helping with the production of ZERO with the "Friends of Danny" patron program.
